LEAGUE RULES
EQUIPMENT
Metal spikes will not be allowed at any time. Anyone wearing metal spikes will be asked to remove them between innings. Disregarding will result in the player being removed from the game until approved equipment is utilized. If a player must be removed, all substitution rules apply.
LINEUP
All games must be started with a minimum of (9) players. Players may be added as long as you have not been through the batting order (1) time. You must end the game with the same number that was the maximum number used during the game.
Batting orders may consist of no more than (2) two “extra hitters” in the line-up at once. “Extra Hitters” do not have to be used.
BASERUNNING
A maximum of (2) courtesy runners may be used per game. Courtesy runners must be the person who made the last out (whether at the plate or on the basepaths).
Safety bag is to be used at first base. Any batter/runner is to use the safety bag when a play is being made.
All baserunners must hold the base until contact is made by the batter. Anyone leaving the bag will be considered out.
PITCHING
All pitches must have a perceptible arc and reach at height of at least 6 feet and not exceeding 10 feet.
BATTING
All hitters will begin their turn at bat with (1) one ball and (1) one strike. Any foul ball hit on the third strike will be considered a strikeout.
GAME
$950 entry fee is due first game. If a fund-raiser is planned to raise this money, this rule may be waived until completion of fund-raiser.
All umpiring discrepancies are to be made through league officials first, and then directed to ASA Officials. If an umpire does not show for a game, it is recommended the game be rescheduled to avoid any conflicts that could arise during play; Any protest or difference of opinion will not be honored by the league in an unofficiated game. If an agreement is reached between the two managers to use a substitute umpire the game will be official and all rules will apply. This substitute must remain the entire game and cannot be used as an eligible player during the game. Teams are not required to pay a substitute umpire unless he is a qualified ASA umpire.
Run Ahead Rule to be as listed below:
20 after 3 complete innings
15 after 4 complete innings
10 after 5 complete innings
Any player instigating a physical altercation in the judgment of the umpire will be removed from the league for the remainder of the season (first offense). Second offense will result in permanent removal from the league. All ASA penalties will be applied.
Any person involved in public defamation of the league will be permanently removed (first offense). Any second player from the same team will result in the team possibly being removed from the league by majority vote. This includes verbal (proven with multiple witnesses), written, or electronic.
In the case of an ejected player District 6 rules will be enforced. All WCASA rules may be enforced as well. Any player ejected from a league game for any reason will not be permitted to participate in other scheduled events on the same date at any league complexes. New WC / Kennett AND District 6 Policy will apply
Rosters are not required for regular season play and may be changed at any time without prior notice; however, players may only play for one team in the league. Player may choose which team he wants to play on during inter-league play only if he is on both league rosters. Anyone found in violation of this rule will be considered an ineligible player and will be handled per ASA guidelines. To be eligible for post-season play players must officially appear in (1) game less than half of a season. Each team qualifying for post-season play must supply a playoff eligibility roster prior to first game of post-season. Games missed due to injury may be counted as an appearance with prior permission of league officials if they are present at games they miss.
Home team is responsible for paying umpire in cash before game. Umpire rate is to be $40/game. In the event of cancellation at the field, the umpire gets paid $20 if he shows up and the game is cancelled before it begins. If the game begins, he gets the entire rate. The league will pay for the make-up in this situation only.
Home team is responsible for keeping official scorebook which should be signed by umpire at completion of game. Scorebooks should include first initial and last name and should be filled out in pen (scoring can be done in pencil). Each team is required to report scores within 24 hours to the league website for tracking of standings. Failure to do so will result in forfeits for both teams involved.
Home team must supply one new ball and one good backup ball each game. Balls will be supplied by the league at the beginning of the season.
All rainouts are to be controlled by league officials. Every effort will be made to cancel as early as possible and all teams involved will be contacted or there will be an announcement placed on the league website (www.chescomens.com). If no warning is received the game will remain as scheduled.
Any game cancelled for darkness or dangerous weather is official after five complete innings (or 4 ½ if home team ahead). If a game cannot be completed the score reverts back to previous full inning. If the game has not been completed, it will be rescheduled and replayed from the first inning.
Any team forfeiting more than (2) times will be removed from the league and all monies forfeited.
No games will be rescheduled due to conflicts without one weeks notice or extenuating circumstances approved by the Commissioner. Any game forwarded will result in a fine twice the amount of the umpire rate payable to the league. It is every teams responsibility to ensure your players are available based on the original published schedule UNLESS DUE TO EMERGENCY SITUATIONS (i.e. emergency directly involving majority of team, etc) .
